Christmas Break - Part 1

Well, clearly I struggle updating this. I wish I could report that this was a good sign that I've been busy having adventures. Which, in part is true. There have been days packed of adventure and others have been more lazy. But I've even had some lazy-but-productive days, which is an improvement I guess.

Since writing last, I had my first Christmas away from home - I rang in 2015 - made official New Year's Resolutions - and just came from an amazing 9-hour day at church.

I am finally beginning to feel like I sort of know London. As in, I am a bit more confident. Life in London is not as metaphorically foggy as it used to be - though it often is foggy in the literal sense. (THOUGH not this morning! It was so sunny I started humming the song "A Foggy Day" because "the sun was shining everywhere!")

Let's see. So after I got back from Wales, I was a bit of a home-body. Most of my friends, or London-family, had returned to their real families for the holiday break. Christmas Eve I made some "Jammie Dodgers" or as Americans call them, jam-thumbprint cookies. Then I celebrated with some lovely people from my ward who were around for the holiday. Then a few of us took off early to catch the last train down to Bromley, Kent London almost entirely shuts down for Christmas, which is cool considering it is incredibly internationally diverse where my adopted-British-Chinese family took me and a few others in, because they are awesome, and their parents were out of town so we all clung together. It was really a good experience to be together, to share different traditions, and make some new ones - plus my sister sent me fake snow! So we had a white Christmas after all!

And I got to talk to my silly, goofy, wonderful family. I really do miss them and was glad I got to share at least a little bit of Christmas with them.

We then enjoyed another day together, Boxing Day even, and transport was still mostly shut-down, so a few of us went and saw the new Hobbit movie. And I learned that there is a fairly short bus - faster than the tube - to get to my friends' flat. So that was fun.

After that, it was a couple days of solo time while people were gone / recovering from all the sweets.

... end part one... please turn over the disc and press play. And. Mind the Gap.
