I had one interesting thought on the way - that prophets are like the maps and signs for the Tube and general area that I've been depending on to get me to where I want to go. I have quickly learned how to identify which maps are 'official' - and they clearly can point me in the direction I need to walk in. Often, I've gotten lost along my way - or sometimes there has been construction on part of the line I need to use. There has always been a sign directing me where to go, to more easily get there.
However, sometimes, I am thrown off by something I hear, get distracted, and literally wander for two hours looking for something... like yesterday, for example... If I had paid a little more attention to the sign, I could easily have found the waiting bus to get me to where I needed to go. Alas - my 'stressed' brain likes to try to figure it out on my own, and stops listening... or reading... So, I am working on that.
Also, I get so turned around when I'm under ground, that I really have to rely on the directions they give - especially how to find a connecting line, so I go the right way... One of my favorite signs to see is a bright yellow-lettered "Way Out -->" for they always show me how to get where I am looking for. Out. I never think, "oh I would sure like to exit" - no, no. The British know I just want out. Haha. I think there are a lot of parallels in these experiences to the gospel, why we need prophets, and how we find strength and encouragement to keep going - to get un-lost...?... and get where we want to go.
Today's church experience was quite lovely. I made two friends, Louise and Svenia, probably spelled them wrong... sorry... And there was a baptism after church... which I didn't stay for (it was for a different ward and I didn't want to intrude..,).
I even found that the bishop's wife is kindly going to look after my big suitcase while I am off exploring Scotland. She is being so kind - space in London is quite valuable and I feel badly for giving her something to trip over... but she promises it won't be in the way. I am so grateful that though I've come to another world - English is spoken / understood most of the time... at church anyway. God is consistent, He is the way and we just have to follow the signs and the kind people who are directing us. Just stop, let your mind settle down, breathe, pause, whatever, and remember to listen to the right source.
Also, I found (by way of the maps they put every few blocks), the school I'll be attending in a couple weeks. It was pretty crazy to see it. Campus is so tiny compared to BYU, where I studied before, everything seems smaller - and taller... haha.
Anyway - those are my thoughts today.
Here are some photos of my adventure finding my school:
I think I'll be here at the library quite a lot - though I hear it is tough to find space... so I'm also looking for other places... It will be an adventure. :)
